The Independence Bank formally notified Habitat for Humanity of Henderson, KY of its providing $25,000 and the volunteer work force from among its employees to help build the first Habitat house in Henderson in 2010. To be built at 837 Clay Street, construction will begin in March or April depending upon weather and ground conditions, in partnership with the Joe and Carol Martinez family. The 1300+ square foot house will have four bedrooms, a bath and a half, be all electric and meet many Energy Star efficiency requirements. Mr. Jim Davis will coordinate the Bank's work force.
